Parallel universe science fiction covers more than one kind of reality-bending story. Some films present a full multiverse of distinct universes, while others focus on a second Earth, a tangent timeline, a neighboring dimension, or a reality created when history changes. What unites them is that an alternate world or version of events materially shapes the plot rather than appearing as a passing idea.
