These horror stories unfold substantially through cameras inside the story, from recovered recordings and documentaries to livestreams, surveillance footage, and home video.

Found footage horror movies make the act of recording part of the storytelling itself. Instead of relying mainly on conventional filmmaking, these stories are substantially presented through material captured within their fictional worlds: documentary crews, personal cameras, television broadcasts, livestreams, surveillance systems, or recordings recovered after frightening events. The format can make supernatural encounters, creature attacks, investigations, and apparent real-world incidents feel unusually immediate. The selection includes both traditional found footage horror films and variations that use mock-documentary or broadcast framing as a major part of their presentation. Movies that contain only an isolated security-camera clip or brief recorded sequence do not fit the concept; the in-story footage must meaningfully shape how the story is experienced.
